NYVS operates as a community-based organization (CBO) in 11 out of 16 blocks of Yavatmal district, serving MSM, transgender, and Double Decker communities. According to NYVS, it is estimated that Yavatmal district has around 3,000 community members belonging to MSM, transgender, and Double Decker groups. Out of this, NYVS has successfully enrolled 1,475 individuals as active members under its programs, who are distributed across these blocks. The organization follows a membership approach to strengthen community ties and enhance engagement. The socio-economic profile of MSM (men who have sex with men), transgender individuals, and Double Decker communities often reveals significant challenges, including high levels of discrimination, stigma, and social exclusion. Many members of these groups face limited access to education and employment opportunities, leading to economic instability. As a result, they frequently rely on informal or high-risk employment and struggle to obtain essential services, contributing to poor health outcomes and a lack of social protection.
